Sources and study details

* Notelovitz et al., Obstetrics & Gynecology (2000). Twelve-week randomized trial, 333 menopausal women across four doses and placebo. The card gives the week-four median reduction for oral micronized estradiol 1 mg, not the percentage of women helped or a guaranteed time to relief. Your prescribed product and strength may differ. Study dose is not an instruction for use. Comparison for the 86% fewer result: Half the women taking oral estradiol 1 mg had at least an 86% drop in moderate to severe hot flashes at week four. On placebo, half had at least a 52% drop. This oral estradiol study measured how much those episodes decreased, with different results at different doses.

** For 91%: Rovati et al., 1999, German trial of 262 women. The 50 mcg/day matrix patch arm included 133 women and cyclic medroxyprogesterone acetate. Its symptom-relief rate was 91%; the comparator reservoir-patch regimen reported 96%. Original study.

Help Center

Find answers to common questions about treatments, results, prescriptions and what to expect. Still have questions?

How does LIV work?

Start with an online health form. Labs are required for this treatment. A licensed provider reviews your information and decides whether to prescribe. If prescribed, your medicine is delivered to you. You'll complete a short questionnaire before each refill and check in every three months.

Do I need an in-person appointment?

Your intake starts online, without booking an appointment. Labs are required for this treatment. A licensed provider reviews your history and results before prescribing.

How long does it take to get my prescription?

A licensed provider reviews your intake within 48 hours. Your labs must also be reviewed before approval. Once approved and in stock before 1 PM Eastern, the pharmacy ships that day. After approval, delivery usually takes 3 to 5 days.

When will my provider review my plan?

Before each refill, tell us how you're doing. Your provider reviews your progress and adjusts your plan as needed. You'll also have a check-in every three months.

Who decides whether this is right for me?

A licensed provider reviews your health history and lab results. They decide whether treatment is right for you, choose your dose and how much to prescribe, and review your plan before refills.

What does compounded mean?

Compounded means a licensed pharmacy mixes the medicine for one person. It is not made in large batches. The FDA does not approve compounded medicines for safety, quality or how they are made.

Can I change, skip or cancel my plan?

Yes. You can change your plan, skip a shipment or cancel from your account. If you want to change your treatment or dose, discuss it with your provider.

Can I take estradiol tablets for vaginal symptoms alone?

Estradiol tablets are approved for moderate to severe vaginal symptoms due to menopause. When vaginal symptoms are the only reason for treatment, the label says to consider a topical vaginal product first. Your provider considers your symptoms and health history when recommending a form.

What serious risks should I discuss before taking estradiol?

The Estradiol Tablets USP (Teva) label reviewed on August 5, 2026 carries an FDA boxed warning about endometrial cancer, heart attack, stroke, invasive breast cancer, blood clots in the lungs or legs, and probable dementia. Discuss how these risks apply to your health history and the treatment prescribed to you.
