How can B12 + MIC help my energy and mood?

B12 is part of how your body turns food into energy, and it keeps your nerves and red blood cells healthy. In one trial, adults with low-normal B12 who added B12 shots to their usual care had better mood scores within three months. MIC adds methionine, inositol and choline. You give it as a small shot under the skin once a week, after a starting phase your provider sets.

How does LIV Health ensure quality and safety?

A provider licensed in your state reviews your health history before prescribing and reviews your care before each refill. Any compounded medicine comes from a licensed pharmacy. Your care team is available between refills.

What am I paying for?

No membership fee. Your plan includes medicine, shipping and ongoing support, with provider review before every refill at no extra cost. You're billed on the schedule you choose and can skip a shipment or cancel anytime from your account.

Energy and Mood, One Shot a Week

Energy that keeps pace

B12 is part of how your body turns the food you eat into usable energy.

A steadier mood

Adults with low-normal B12 had better mood scores after 3 months of B12 shots.*

Healthy nerve signals

B12 helps keep your nerves and red blood cells healthy and working well.

* Syed et al., Open Neurology Journal (2013). Randomized trial of 73 adults with low-normal B12 levels who were taking an antidepressant. B12 shots were added to their usual care; every adult in the B12 group had at least a 20% improvement in mood scores at 3 months, compared with 69% of the comparison group. LIV's B12 + MIC blend was not tested.

Energy and Mood Start With B12.

Curious whether B12 is worth a closer look? Here's how common borderline levels are, what B12 shots did for mood, and why a shot skips the gut.

About 1in8

US adults had borderline-low B12 levels in national health survey data from 2007 to 2018.*

100%

of adults with low-normal B12 who added B12 shots to their usual care had mood scores improve by at least 20% in 3 months.**

About 2%

of a 500 mcg B12 pill is absorbed. A shot places B12 under the skin, so it does not depend on the gut.*

Sources and study details

* NIH ODS, Vitamin B12 Health Professional Fact Sheet. Borderline-low means below 300 pg/mL in NHANES 2007 to 2018 (about 12.5% of US adults aged 19 and older). Oral absorption is about 2% at a 500 mcg dose and about 1.3% at 1,000 mcg.

** Syed et al., Open Neurology Journal (2013). 73 adults with low-normal B12 who were taking an antidepressant; B12 shots added to usual care. 100% of the B12 group and 69% of the comparison group had at least a 20% score improvement at 3 months. LIV's B12 + MIC blend was not tested.

Help Center

Find answers to common questions about treatments, results, prescriptions and what to expect. Still have questions?

How does LIV work?

You fill out a short health form online. A licensed provider reviews it and decides if treatment is right for you. If it is, your prescription ships to your door. You answer a few questions before each refill, and you check in every three months. Your provider will explain any follow-up tests.

Do I need to see a doctor in person?

No. There is no appointment to book. You answer questions online whenever it suits you. A licensed provider reviews your answers and decides if treatment is right for you. The whole thing takes about five to seven minutes.

How long does it take to get my prescription?

A licensed provider reviews your intake within 48 hours. Once approved and in stock before 1 PM Eastern, the pharmacy ships that day. After approval, delivery usually takes 3 to 5 days. Compounding can add time.

When will my provider review my plan?

Before each refill, tell us how you're doing. Your provider reviews your progress and adjusts your plan as needed. You'll also have a check-in every three months.

Who decides whether this is right for me?

A licensed provider reviews your health form and decides whether treatment is right for you. They choose your dose and how much medicine to prescribe.

What does compounded mean?

Compounded means a licensed pharmacy mixes the medicine for one person. It is not made in large batches. The FDA does not approve compounded medicines for safety, quality or how they are made.

Can I change, skip or cancel my plan?

Yes. You can change your plan, skip a shipment or cancel from your account. If you want to change your treatment or dose, discuss it with your provider.

How is B12 + MIC given?

As a small shot under the skin, usually once a week after a starting phase. Your provider sets your schedule, and instructions come with your shipment.

What should I expect after a B12 + MIC shot?

Most people feel nothing beyond a little redness or tenderness where the shot goes in. A mild headache or looser stools can happen and usually pass. Tell your provider about any liver or kidney condition, or any allergy to vitamin B12 or cobalt, so they can confirm it's a good fit.

Can my other medicines affect my B12?

Yes, some can. Metformin and acid reducers can lower B12 over time. Your provider will ask what you take and factor it into your plan.
