Sources and study details

* OASIS 1, Lancet (2023): 667 adults with overweight or obesity without type 2 diabetes; 334 assigned oral semaglutide, increased to 50 mg daily, plus lifestyle support for 68 weeks. The 15.1% figure is the estimated average weight reduction regardless of treatment discontinuation or other weight-loss therapy; the control group lost 2.4%. The 85% figure is 269 of 317 participants with week-68 weight data, not all 334 assigned treatment; the control result was 26%. Gastrointestinal side effects occurred in 80% of the semaglutide group and were mostly mild to moderate. Novo Nordisk funded the study. These results describe the study tablets, not LIV’s compounded oral preparation; absorption and results may differ. The study dose is not a dosing recommendation. A study of oral semaglutide tablets measured meaningful weight loss with lifestyle support. The tablets studied differ from LIV’s compounded oral formula.

Help Center

Find answers to common questions about treatments, results, prescriptions and what to expect. Still have questions?

How does LIV work?

Start with an online health form. Labs are required for this treatment. A licensed provider reviews your information and decides whether to prescribe. If prescribed, your medicine is delivered to you. You'll complete a short questionnaire before each refill and check in every three months.

Do I need an in-person appointment?

Your intake starts online, without booking an appointment. Labs are required for this treatment. A licensed provider reviews your history and results before prescribing.

How long does it take to get my prescription?

A licensed provider reviews your intake within 48 hours. Your labs must also be reviewed before approval. Once approved and in stock before 1 PM Eastern, the pharmacy ships that day. After approval, delivery usually takes 3 to 5 days. Compounding can add time.

When will my provider review my plan?

Before each refill, tell us how you're doing. Your provider reviews your progress and adjusts your plan as needed. You'll also have a check-in every three months.

Who decides whether this is right for me?

A licensed provider reviews your health history and lab results. They decide whether treatment is right for you, choose your dose and how much to prescribe, and review your plan before refills.

What does compounded mean?

Compounded means a licensed pharmacy mixes the medicine for one person. It is not made in large batches. The FDA does not approve compounded medicines for safety, quality or how they are made.

Can I change, skip or cancel my plan?

Yes. You can change your plan, skip a shipment or cancel from your account. If you want to change your treatment or dose, discuss it with your provider.

Do oral and injected semaglutide have the same boxed warning?

Yes. FDA-approved oral and injected semaglutide carry the same boxed warning about thyroid C-cell tumors. They must not be used by anyone with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), or with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2). Compounded semaglutide has no FDA-approved labeling of its own. That does not mean it is risk-free. Tell your provider about your personal and family thyroid history before starting treatment. Source: approved semaglutide labeling, reviewed August 10, 2026.

How do I choose between oral and injected semaglutide?

The formats differ in how much medicine your body absorbs. For FDA-approved Wegovy, the label reports 89% for the injection under the skin and about 1% to 2% for the tablet. Those figures do not describe a compounded preparation. Tell your provider which format you prefer so they can consider it alongside your health history.
